Description

The Society has a collection of local memorabilia available to the public. Society members are currently organizing and computerizing a collection of photos, school items, postcards, local advertising items, genealogy and family histories, etc.

Mission

Our primary purpose is to undertake the preservation and restoration of ancient or historic public buildings, works or monuments significant to or connected with the history of Stewartstown Borough, York County, Pennsylvania and the vicinity immediately adjacent thereto;

to erect, restore, preserve and mark such buildings, works and monuments; to publish or republish matters of historical interest and to compile, edit, print and distribute such publications;

to care and maintain historic buildings, monuments, objects and antiquities committed to its custody;

to research, restore, rehabilitate and engage in other activities furthering the protection, enhancement, continued existence, collection and display, or enjoyment of any building, structure, object, district, place, site or area significant to the history or culture of Stewartstown Borough, York County, Pennsylvania and the vicinity.

History

The Stewartstown Area Historical Society has been serving the community since 1984.
