Mission is to protech Osceola County History. Major projects: 1) looking for Osceola County memorabilia, 2) Sibley High School memorabilia, 3) build an exhibit case to house WWII uniforms and memorabilia.

History

McCallum Museum was built in 1957 to protect and cover an already existing structure in Sibley City Park, The H.K. Rogers House, built in 1871 and one of the first inhabitable homesteads in Osceola County. It has subesequent addtitions with Bunson Heritage Home addition completed in 1991.

Artifact Collections

Significant artifacts: 1908 Sears Auto Buggy, two-headed calf, chainless 1886 boy's bicyle, Civil War era (muskets, canteens, haversacks), bound editions of Osceola County newspapers, 1872-1940, early woodworking tools, miltary miscellanea such as WWI gas mask, WWI German machine gun, large collection of stonewar (Tea Leaf)and china dishes, baseball memorabilia, Indian artifacts, agricultural tools such as corn planter, grain cradel, oxen yoke, early office equipment and more.

Research Collections

Early family historys, Osceola County Newspapers, local photographs, and more.

Programs

None this year. Last year we featured, "Art in the Museum," a chance for students to work with local art teacher to draw museum artifacts. Registration through local Recreation Dept.
