The mission of the John Gilmore Riley Center/ Museum of African-American History and Culture is to restore and preserve the Riley House and its collections, and to research and interpret materials related to African-American history in Tallahassee and the State of Florida.

Mission

To preserve the cultural and educational history of African-Americans in Tallahassee and Florida from the period of reconstruction through the Civil Rights Movement. This 1890 built historic house is a visual footnote embellishing the lives of African-Americans, as they relate to ancestry, ways of life and traditions.
