History

The museum is located in the original Carmelite monastery, the only building remaining of the Carmelite friars who founded the City of Stanton. A group of Martin county residents have undertaken the restoration of this valuable and historic structure. It is built of four-foot adobe walls with Gothic pointed windows and doors which make it an architectural wonder. It will be through the talents and dedication of many people that this important place in West Texas history comes alive again.
