Ben Lomond is an antebellum farm that served as a hospital during the Civil War. The home was referenced in many Civil War Era documents as the Pringle House because of the men who lived here in 1861. Many of the soldiers that were brought to the hospital penned their names and brief messages on the walls of the home.
Learn more about the history of this stately manor known as the Ben Lomond House. Tours are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays from March to November. We are closed during the winter months except for special programs. Tours can also be arranged by appointment throughout the year.
To help us understand the home's history, archaeologists have conducted excavations. They have found pieces of dishes, discarded bones from meat served at meals, household items and other interesting artifacts.
