Art, Culture

Art exhibitions at The Aldrich challenge visitors to shift their perspectives and re-think their definitions of art. Our shows usually feature significant work by emerging and mid-career artists, though we occasionally present important works by widely-known, established artists as well. We aspire to provide a vital cultural resource for our community, with special attention to developing world-class, innovative museum education programs.

The Ballard Institute and Museum of Puppetry is one of America’s hidden treasures—a superb collection of over 2,500 puppets from all over the world; an archive of books, manuscripts, posters, drawings, audio-visual materials and photographs all covering the history of puppetry. It is also the new home of the Puppeteers of America’s Audio-Visual Collection: the largest collection of videotapes, films, and other media about puppetry in the United States.

Art, Culture, University

Founded in 1990, the Walsh Art Gallery is housed in Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts. The Gallery mounts up to four temporary exhibitions every year, all of which are complemented by a rich array of programming that is carefully designed to facilitate intellectual inquiry, foster personal growth, open new cultural vistas, and nurture individual development. With its soaring ceiling and dramatic sight lines, the Walsh provides an exceptional venue for intriguing shows that captive the whole person - body, mind, and spirit.
