Longboat Key Center for the Arts and Ringling College of Art and Design merged in April, 2007 to create an exciting array of educational programs, gallery exhibitions, and events that inspire creativity for the people of the Longboat Key community and beyond. We invite you to visit our Center, attend an opening, take a class, and become a contributing member of our artistic community. The Historical Society has a large collection of items relating to the history of Longboat Key, including: 1. Bound copies of all weekly newspapers that served Longboat Key; 2.Copies of Keynotes, the annual pamphlet giving names and addresses of all residents; 3. Over 1,000 photographs and maps, some going back to the early 1900's; 4. The bronze plaque from the old New Pass Bridge. The society has seasonal meetings with guest speakers presenting all phases of the history of Longboat Key.
