The Duquesne Incline has provided a rapid rail transit service, between Downtown Pittsburgh and the Mount Washington neighborhood of Duquesne Heights, for commuters and tourists since 1877!
At the Upper Station of the Incline, people can view the beautiful Golden Triangle of Downtown Pittsburgh, and environs, from the visitor observation deck. This beautiful view has been designated as the second most beautiful view in America by USA Weekend magazine!
In 2004, a new viewing deck was added, allowing visitors to watch the historic Incline hoisting equipment in operation. Additionally, the Upper Station waiting room includes a small museum of Pittsburgh history and cable car history.
