Greendale, Wisconsin

History, Historic House, Historical Society, Park

The Curtin House was built in 1846, the first stone house in the old Town of Greenfield. David Curtin, an Irish immigrant, built the house with the help of an Irish stone mason using stone from the quary north of Grange Ave. The Curtin House is a physical reminder of Milwaukee County's early Irish settlement and is also the boyhood home of Jeremiah Curtin, an accomplished linguist, author and world traveler.
